Artist Statement

Hello!
My name is Becky Von Haden and I lovingly create button flower arrangements. What started in 2017 as a fun way to keep myself busy and stay creative, turned into opportunities. I average 12-15 art and craft shows a year and I also sell my art work in the gift shop at Boerner Botanical Gardens. I enjoy what I do and how happy it makes people when they see them. I hand make each individual button flower using stacked unique buttons, then I choose a fun container to put them in such as a clay pot, vintage creamer, seasonal items like metal watering cans and even fun floral tea cups. By doing this I can turn something ordinary and basic, into something new, fun, beautiful, colorful and interesting giving it new life. I focus on bold colors that are eye-catching and using quality materials. I pride myself on crisp, clean work and my customers notice that and compliment me often. I have many, many followers and repeat customers which makes me so happy. I truly enjoy what I create, but I love that folks enjoy it too. My arrangements are multi-faceted which appeals to the masses, in which I even make custom works for people. Making button flowers helps keep me creative, have a vision and focus for what I want to make and how I want to appeal to people. There isn't anyone who makes button flowers like I do and I take great pride in the fact that I make making something so unique and individual that it cannot be easily replicated. Each item on my table is one-of-a-kind, helping to ensure the customer they are buying the one and only button flower creation. It's such a fun process to create these and meet new people and try new venues, I hope to be a part of Art in the Park and contribute to its success.
