Artist Statement

I do not consider myself much of an artist. I have always struggled with the title “artist” as someone who creates art recreationally, and have been for all of my life. I enjoy making art - whether it be through collages, painting, or mixed media, art to me has been a reflection of where I am, and who I want to become.

As an individual who makes art, I have struggled with finding my own path. I was never brave enough and did not have the time to chase it as a passion. I found myself vicariously living through those who’ve I found inspiring - because of that, I’ve noticed that I like to take bits and pieces from others works as a result.

My work is inconsistent; it is constantly evolving and my hope is that it never stops doing so. Part of the art I make is a reflection of the new person I am becoming in each passing moment. My hopes with the new year and years passing is that I will emerge from this cloud of ambiguity and truly dig deeply within to feel like a real artist. To have the confidence to develop my own style and grow with other like-minded individuals. My hobbies have always taken the backseat in my life, and for the first time I want them to drive me forward.
