Artist Statement
I majored in art and interior design at UNCG. After dabbling in oil, watercolor, and pastels, I have turned my focus to alcohol ink painting. These allow me to play with limitless colors, including metallic inks. I have pursued a unique perspective with alcohol inks creating mosaics. After completing a painting, I decide nstuct it by cutting square, stripes and rectangles. The the painting is designed using those pieces. Some are totally abstract while others are semi realistic. I have also experimented with layering 3-D panel pieces. The latest configuration has been mixed media using art yarns, yarn, handmade papers, silk ribbon, silk worm pods, etc.
As I am also a knitter, I have been adding more yarn to meld my two art forms.
