Isabella Esprit
Artist Statement
I am a multidisciplinary, mixed-media artist based in Virginia Beach, VA. I blend my knowledge of acrylic and clay mediums into experimental/expressive processes that result in my art.
I challenge the traditional uses for household products like tissue paper and spackle by incorporating them into my artworks. I attempt to break the barrier between the flat, 2D plane that is the canvas and the world of the viewer/audience by incorporating sculpting directly onto the canvas.
Whether it’s through color or form. Every detail, no matter how minuscule, has both conscious and unconscious meaning. I do not seek to glamorize the human condition. My mixed-media art highlights my inner struggles and allows me to encapsulate feelings that I have yet to learn to articulate. I believe the process is just as important as the finished piece. My art is my voice when my words fail.
My preferred exhibition dates are June 26-Aug 14.
