Artist Statement

I am a sculptor and multi-disciplinary artist currently working in ceramics. I am interested in vessels as hosts and want to investigate elements of human body as well as other living things, and the intricacies of what keeps ecosystems in flow and flux. The cyclical nature of the organic material that originates and returns to the earth translates to my focus on the circular nature of the female life force. Maternity and ancestral influence have been woven through my creative experience and inform the narrative of my body of work. Coming from a writing background, creating has always been about language to me. My goal as an artist would be to use storytelling through touch and labor to create vessels that hold space energetically or semi-functionally.
