Susan Green Artist’s Statement


“...with an eye made quiet by the power of harmony, and the deep power of joy, we see into the life of things.” William Wordsworth.
My photography seeks to explore the life of things. Whether I’m photographing people, landscapes, or, in this body of work, light on water, I seek to capture the life of that moment. For me, the sparkling – always changing – reflections of light on water are an invitation to quiet my everyday self and find the deep power of joy nature offers. With my quiet eye, I notice colors and reflections I might have otherwise ignored. This quiet, meditative time in nature nourishes me so that I can return to the business of the world with humility and the curiosity to seek to understand those who appear on my path through life.

This collection contains one image from each of the four seasons: Winter, Spring, Summer, and Fall.
