Painting for me is a way to tell a story, in the same way some people write memoirs. I want to tell a very specific story about the mundane moments of my life because I think these small moments of riding in a car, or getting ingredients out to cook dinner or sitting and watching a pet nap are really the things that add up to a life lived, even more then splashy moments of celebration and accomplishment. I love color and how it helps tell stories and create a mood. I took a 10 year hiatus from painting, so I have many ideas that I am exploring and hesitate to say my paintings are any one way. I'm exploring size and medium- some of my work is very small but joins together to make large series, and some of it is more standard in size. I have worked in watercolor, gouche and acrylic paint. I prefer my application of paint to not distract from the image, and tend to have a more illustrative style. Painting an image that can capture another person, and give them a chance to look at their own life through "art eyes" is the ultimate goal for me.
