Artists Statement for Studio Montclair
These etchings of my son Andrew, his wife, Janice, and their children, Kyler and Kaeley, evoke memories of family gatherings, and cherished traditions.
Etching is a slow process of gradually adding and subtracting tone and line, so I have spent quite a long time looking at the images of each person in close detail. In the process of etching, I have thought of them with love, and the lines and textures remind me of the strength of family bonds.
Art has a remarkable way of preserving and celebrating these moments, allowing us to revisit them with fresh eyes. I have valued having a family and enjoyed remembering them in my artistic life.
