Bill Guild
Artist Statement
As my own relationship with the natural world has deepened, I have found myself moving away from the strictly representational to something more transcendent. Using light and simplicity of form there seems to be a natural movement from the literal to interpretive. The process may involve using metal leaf, handmade papers, alternative lenses, digital technology (and sometimes even the imperfections inherent in the digital process), to craft images that seek to pull back the surface layer to reveal a more visceral experience. More of an experience of what may exist beyond the "normal" realm of the senses.
Bill has been represented in solo and group shows including the Southern Vermont Art Center, the NAACO Gallery, the Eclipse Mill Gallery, North Adams City Hall, North Adams Regional Hospital, and numerous other venues. In addition, Bill has been commissioned for CD covers, website photos, magazine articles and covers, etc. His work is in multiple private collections both in the U.S. and abroad.
