Artist Statement
This piece was the final project of my advanced ceramics class as a senior at the University of Connecticut. My topic of interest was the relationship between seabirds and the fluidity of the sound here in my hometown of Norwalk. The pearl glaze represents the iridescence of the native oysters and shells that I would collect as a kid. The holes in the piece also represent the driftwood that I would observe on the coastline. Thank you for your time, Michelle Bjerke
