Artist Statement

I am a Seattle-based oil painter focused on still life realism. My work begins with attention to the way light bends through glassware, pools in shadow, and stretches across curved surfaces into distorted reflections. These moments of color and refraction inspire me every day and painting them is how I slow down enough to really be present.

The values I hold most deeply are attentiveness, reuse, and reverence for what already exists. I paint glassware that has already had a life, alongside flowers and food, subjects that are transient by nature. A glass holds the light of a whole room; a bloom or a piece of fruit carries its own brief glow. Rather than invent something new, I try to honor the beauty in front of me.

I search for light within shadows, and for the clarity that emerges through contrast. Each painting expresses a desire for more light, more transparency, and the space to truly see.
