Artist Statement

Thirty-five years ago, I followed my passion for wine and moved to Napa Valley. I was amazed how sunlight and soil, (the basic building blocks of life), can transform a simple grape into a beverage consumed by millions. Wine is discussed, debated, critiqued, rated, and thankfully enjoyed with friends & family. During that time, I?ve had the opportunity to study, teach, work and photograph everything wine in Napa Valley. Living here provided photographic opportunities most visitors and photographers never experience. I?ve explored every mile of this valley in winter, spring, summer, and fall. I?ve photographed macro grapevine parts, winemaking, vineyards, wineries, winery art, and landscapes?at sunrise, sunset, golden hour, blue hour, and the black of night. I love everything about Napa Valley. I hope to convey a moment in time where the viewer pauses to consider what happened before the shutter release and what will happen after.
