Artist Statement

My newest body of work, represented here, is woven tapestry reflecting addressing issues of cultural identity, justice, feminine strength, and connection to antiquity. are central to her art practice. My work often responds to the world about me and incorporates traditions that are common to many cultures.

Art inspires change. Art encourages growth. Art questions. Art offers a way of communicating when -- or because--words cannot express our grief or joy or hope or despair.

Art can repair the world. Art saves lives.

Art is not frivolous. Art separates humans from every other life form on this planet. We’ve been given a great and precious gift – our ability to create art, our ability to understand art, our ability to appreciate art. We shouldn’t squander that gift by just trying to make it match the sofa.

Art begs to match our souls.
