Artist Statement

A recurring theme in my work is the idea of appreciating the simple every day joys in life. I make paintings in oil and mixed media. Colors, smells,and touch all influence me in capturing the moments that imprint our soul enough to affect who we are and change who we become. I am often pulled by color and may base a painting on the feeling the colors give. The overall idea behind my work is visits to natural areas. Breathing the fresh, fragrant air. Feeling the wind on my skin. And of course seeing the simplicity and complexities in the different foliage remind me of a greater power that is all around us.
