Artist Statement
I grew up in the foothills of Amador County and have never left. I wanted to photograph the world but Life Magazine disappeared when I was a teen and National Geographic was way too much and above my pay grade asl I discovered after I knocked on the door in Washington. But I didn't leave in despair and I never stopped shooting. Little by little, I discovered the open door, an entrance to the world I needed to explore and photograph and it was right here and in my backyard. Through that door was a connection to a world far away and across the sea which has now become my life's passion.
