Artist Statement

Observing and drawing connects me with my subjects. Encaustic painting is a play of light, with an enticing surface. Texture, luminosity, and dimension aid in constructing my artwork. My work begins with drawing, and appreciating the forms (how I am touched, connected with the overall beauty of our natural world.) It is taking my view, my way of seeing nature, our environment and man, and constructing various ways I have made and continue to make connections.
