Reinilda Fernandez Blair
Artist Statement
My work explores identity as something inherited, remembered, and continuously reshaped. Rooted in my Dominican heritage, I draw from family, cultural memory, migration, and the landscapes that have shaped my sense of belonging. Through painting, I examine how history lives within us, not only through what we are taught, but through what is carried quietly across generations. I use color, symbolism, and personal imagery to create spaces where memory and identity can coexist, allowing the work to become both a reflection of where I come from and a way of understanding who I am becoming.
