Artist Statement

My name is Rooma Sehar Sabir, and I am a passionate Abstract Artist. In my paintings, I like to seize the beauty of unusual objects and places that came into my imagination because of my observations and feelings from my everyday life. I love birds flying in the skies, the feeling of the wind and soothing sound of water streams and much more.

While walking on the streets, I find symmetrical or asymmetrical shapes and I try to associate them with something meaningful in our lives. My work explores the relationship between the color and shapes. As an Artist, color is my tool to speak to the world.

Paintings give voice to my emotions, overcome my fear, and fulfil my wildest wishes and my aspirations. Whenever I feel down, I find Art as a way to vent out my frustration and pain.

Throughout this journey of Art, I have tried many techniques with different mediums like Acrylic, Glazing, Ink, Charcoal, and Gel etc. I enjoyed these new experiments and attempted fearless strokes. So far I have enjoyed working with all of these mediums.

I am inspired by many known artists like Jackson Pollock, Wassily Kandinsky and Franz Klien. They all gave me courage and freedom to paint with my own style without any boundaries.

The message from my paintings is that one must not stop creativity because every stroke gives a new direction and opens a whole new world to explore. I just want people to see my work and feel the colors and emotions and depth. I don’t want to paint only for art galleries but for myself as well.
