Artist Statement

Statement 1/26/2022
My journey with painting has been a long and winding road. From painting as a youth to photography retouching and printing lithography, and back again.
Out of trauma and Covid has sprung a painting passion. I have been extremely productive this year of Covid. I have produced some of my best work this past year and the energy has not left me.
My art is portraiture of female subjects. The curving lines, the ever ending choices of color, the graceful movements. Portraits capture the essence of a personality, if only for a moment. My art has been able to drape the on looker in emotion.
When I work I start with a complementary color or whatever color which will dominate. So that the shadows bleed the base color. Then a charcoal drawing on canvas. And my palette is dark to light.
My subjects show strength, beauty, intelligence and grace.
