Artist Statement

I am an eco-artist making masks, drawings, sculptures, collages, dioramas, and assemblages, from recycled materials and found objects, injecting myth, color, dream, and humor into my work. I graduated Music and Art High School in NYC and Sarah Lawrence College majoring in Folklore, Mythology, and Painting. I studied printmaking in Paris and served in the Peace Corps in Togo, West Africa. I received my M.A. in Feminist Art Education from Goddard College while studying with Judy Chicago at the Feminist Studio Workshop in Los Angeles. I worked for many years as a set decorator for film and television. I have worked as a mask/puppet/props/set maker for children’s theatrical productions around the world. I currently teach art to children and adults. I also write poetry. During the pandemic I created a series of “Crazy Covid Clown Masks.” My work is exhibited in Los Angeles galleries, online, and is in private collections around the world. I continue to travel, enjoying artist residencies with my husband, a poet and voice actor. I am a mother and grandmother, and I continue to find energy and inspiration from living in Los Angeles.
