Artist Statement

As a child I was told not to focus on art and to stick with writing. As an adult I was told stained glass would always be expensive due to the components and amount of work involved and therefore only affordable by the lucky few. Several years ago I decided ago to challenge both those statements and push the boundaries of both myself and what stained glass “have” to be. These pieces are the result. I take second-hand glass that has been discarded/tossed aside and upcycle it into something different: into hand- painted stained glass which I call Lightcatchers.

Growing up on two different continents has given me a unique perspective on the use of color in art. I tend to use bold colors and designs in my home, my garden and especially in my art.
