Artist Statement

I paint with beeswax, damar, colored pigments, alcohol ink, shellac, and fire.

Living near the woods and water of the Unami Creek Valley outside Green Lane, Pennsylvania, I watch the seasons change in small, beautiful ways—buds opening and petals falling. Those quiet shifts stay with me and find their way into my work.

Through encaustic painting, I build layers of warm wax and color, letting light glow through the surface. I scrape, fuse, and soften, following where the piece wants to grow. Sometimes the wax moves in unexpected ways, like wind through flowers, and I let it.

I’m not trying to copy nature. I’m trying to hold on to the feeling of standing inside it—the joy of a field in bloom.

My paintings are small pauses. Places of color and light where you can breathe, remember wonder, and feel the gentle rhythm of the natural world.
