Artist Statement

Maggie obtained a BA in French and Studio Art in from Youngstown State University in 1971, and teacher certification at The University of Akron in 1976. Printmaking, graphic design, and ceramics were the focus of her artistic interests.

An MFA course of study begun at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas, was interrupted when she moved to work in Mexico City in 1984, then returned to Texas in 1990 to work in graduate student administration at The University of Texas, Austin. Relocating to San Antonio in 2013 after retirement, she focuses on ceramic art and mixed media. Her sculptural forms combine techniques of wheel throwing and hand building based on abstract design principles inspired by the ethos of ancient civilizations.
