Cornelia Nevitt
Artist Statement
My work is very introspective, I create from my own imagination rather than from life models. Birds, flowers, clouds, human figures, often incorporated into dreamlike landscapes Etching, sculpture, and painting are favored media for me because I pay close attention to detail. I have been very much influenced by Northern Renaissance artists, Asian art, the Expressionists, religion, and a deep love of nature. I do not interpret my work, some of it is mysterious even to me, but I believe that ambiguity is an important part of its appeal. it is subjective, personal ,art that reflects my own inner world as I am able to interpret it in images drawn from my human environment and from nature.
