Artist Statement

Lili’s art takes a multi-cultural view of social, cultural, and global concerns. Her main focal point is often a female figure, incorporating objects and symbolism from diverse East and West cultures.
Subtle images are juxtaposed in the background, showcasing poetic themes and sensuality. The subject’s
expression is often melancholic. She layers in mythos and surrealism to infuse her visionary art further.
Lili was born and raised in Tokyo, Japan, and spent her early years navigating a difficult childhood. She lost her parents at a young age and left home at 15 to care for herself. Lili overcame numerous obstacles to survive a difficult life on her own.
Her ambitious nature led her to a successful career in the fashion world in Japan.
She immigrated to the United States decades ago, and studied fine art and design, leading her to a long and outstanding career with major advertising agencies and corporations.
In recent years, she has dedicated her time to fine art paintings.
