Artist Statement

As a street and documentary photographer, I seek beauty in the mundane and in chance. My latest series called DISTRACTIONS, continues this practice. I am inspired by random visual moments I encounter in my daily life: glints of silver highlights from discarded foil wrapping; dappled sunlight casting shadows against shattered glass; striated lights streaking across elevator doors. These visual abstractions distract me from my routine, providing temporary relief from the daily grind of life. In the series, I manipulate photos of stainless steel panels ad create abstract fields of color to challenge the realism inherent in photography.
