Artist Statement

I work with poured acrylic paint. Pouring allows me to experiment with color, transparency and light and the interaction with the effects of gravity. In creating my work I invite the viewer on a journey from the chaos and busyness of daily life into a place of calm by creating a field of color with gradual shifts from dark to light and subtle chromatic variations. Occasionally I will insert stark contrast in a painting to highlight the difference between calm and chaos hoping to have the viewer “feel” the difference. My work is created as an expression of my belief that we all contain within us the power and intuitive knowledge to heal ourselves physically, mentally and spiritually if given the space, without distraction, to go inward.
