Artist Statement

Glass fusing allows a wonderfully wide range of expression. I am drawn to organic and cellular forms and patterns, reminiscent of plant materials seen under the microscope. The first large metal & glass panels I created were inspired by the cellular patterns in xylem, the woody part of a tree. I also make tree portraits in metal & glass. My plant science background inspires much of my artwork and gives me a good technical understanding for working with glass. In 2017 I began exploring musical glass, an exciting integration of music, acoustic science and visual art.
