Artist Statement

I am a metal artist whose primary focus is the transformation of plain metal surface into something of beauty. I find a rugged beauty in metal. Its unyielding strength becomes an invitation to tussle, to change its form. Using the strength of my hands and body, a flat sheet morphs into an undulating shape.
I become an alchemist, allowing the chemicals to do their magic and inform me how to continue. I love the unpredictability and tension of not knowing how the surface will evolve, as each layer is added or subtracted over many days. These changed metallic surfaces enlivening my abstract forms, shaped from steel or brass.
