Artist Statement

Art can tell a story. I often include elements of music. Color fascinates me. I like swirls and combinations, which is what draws me to tie-dye, and watercolor.

I am the Bravo Education Coordinator for the Ojai Music Festival. Earning a Master of Music degree in flute performance from the University of Kentucky, I am currently on the faculty of Westmont College. I perform with the Santa Barbara Symphony, Opera Santa Barbara, and local choral societies. Alry Publications has published several flute choir arrangements. I have performed with Henry Mancini, Doc Severinsen, Steve Allen, Mel Torme, Tony Bennett, James Galway, Yanni, and for Oprah. I use the experience of interactive play to develop motivation, promote community building and conflict resolution skills in working with both students and teachers. Leading workshops for teachers, we build the acquisition of language and movement, coupled with play state to enhance the imagination and stabilization of the child necessary for cognitive growth based on recent neurological findings.
