Artist Statement

As a veteran rafting outfitter and guide I spent many years imagining what I could make with all the beautiful stones I came across. My love for the beauty of the outdoors became my inspiration. Being self-employed manufacturing rafting equipment made it a natural progression to seeing the different applications these stones could be used for. As I played with the idea, the varied products came into view, so I started creating them, one by one and as the years have gone by, so my techniques and processes have become refined and more diverse, and so has the line. My current ambition has been creating a Cairn Candle that delights my patrons as its both historical and it seems everyone identifies with the primal nature of Rock and Fire.
