Timothy Armstrong
Artist Statement
Of artistic and economic necessity, I have developed a monotype printing process without any need of ink or a printing press, relying solely on tar paper, camping fuel, spray paint and debris salvaged from dumpsters in San Francisco. This art is about and made directly from the natural habitat of homeless encampments. I print using found tar paper, spray paint and street debris on big sheets of blotter paper soaked with found Coleman Camp Fuel. A raw, material experiment at first, this work echoes those environments and lives, if less urgently our own.
