Kalina Schneider

Artist Statement

Kalina Schneider is a multidisciplinary artist whose practice bridges sculpture, textiles, wearable art, photography, and immersive installation. Born in Poland and now based in Florida, she holds a Master's Degree in Art History and Cultural Studies, a foundation that continues to influence her exploration of symbolism, mythology, memory, and cultural identity.
Schneider first gained international recognition through her fine art photographic work, creating emotionally charged narratives that blended portraiture with symbolic storytelling. Over time, her artistic practice expanded beyond the photographic image and into physical object-making, leading to the development of sculptural garments, symbolic relics, and installation environments that investigate the relationship between body, memory, and transformation.
Working primarily with reclaimed textiles, hand-altered fabrics, found objects, natural processes, and mixed media, Schneider creates works that appear simultaneously ancient and contemporary. Her pieces evoke forgotten rituals, imagined histories, and archetypal narratives while examining themes of loss, resilience, ancestry, identity, and renewal.
In 2026, Schneider was awarded the Grand Prize at the Scene to be Seen Wearable Art Competition, further establishing her as an emerging voice within contemporary wearable and installation art.
Her current body of work, Hidden Mythology, explores the unseen stories that shape human experience through immersive environments populated by relics, artifacts, and sculptural forms. Through this evolving project, Schneider invites audiences to consider how mythology continues to influence modern identity and how memory, both personal and collective, becomes embedded within objects, materials, and place.
