Artist Statement
My work is an exploration of transformation born from adversity. As a self-taught artist, I draw upon personal experiences of trauma, loss, healing, and self-discovery to create paintings that examine the complex landscapes of the human psyche.
Working primarily in oil, I use expressive brushwork, layered color, and symbolic imagery to give form to emotions and experiences that are often difficult to articulate through words. My paintings exist between abstraction and figuration, allowing faces, figures, and symbols to emerge organically from the painted surface. This process mirrors the way identity itself is formed—through struggle, growth, and continual transformation.
Recurring themes within my work include awakening, resilience, memory, consciousness, and metamorphosis. I am particularly interested in the moments when pain becomes understanding, when chaos gives way to meaning, and when the self begins to emerge from life's most difficult experiences.
Through my art, I seek not only to reflect my own journey but also to create spaces where viewers can recognize aspects of their own. The images may begin with personal experience, but they ultimately speak to universal processes of healing, growth, and becoming.
