Artist Statement

I come from a life spent making music. The concepts of rhythm, melody, and silence are echoed in my work as a visual artist, where I seek to weave a rich tapestry of chroma, light, and texture. When I discovered the medium of soft pastels, I was captivated by its pure intense colors and ability to go from whispering with thin powdery strokes to shouting with thick impasto gestures. In my work, I layer pastels in powder, stick, and pencil forms to achieve a variety of textures and expressive marks.
