Artist Statement

"It is an art to reduce things" Axel Becker
We live in an information-overloaded world. Every day we perceive millions of pieces of information - internet, television, emails, WhatsApps...... a seemingly endless flood. In the art world, photos are created with billions of colours and pixels, millions of art images are combined into artworks. The contrast is minimalism, the reduction of the picture or sculpture to the fewest and most essential components - like coming to the centre in meditation ...... Leaving things out is also a difficult task in art.
With my minimalist art, I try to create an interaction between the viewer and the respective artwork - often with the help of light. This is reflected in the shiny, metallic objects on monochrome canvases. Here, the play of light is the centre of my art. The canvas is the stage that fills the background. In the sculptures, it is precisely the smooth and shiny surfaces that create interaction. The viewer can also see himself in the sculpture.
Another central key of my art is the willingness to experiment. When I work on a sculpture, I already have the material in mind. That's how I started with carbon. First I made a classical plaster mould, as in the sculpture "Homage to Klimt/Homage of Munch". After 1.5 - 2 years I knew it had to be carbon.
My most beautiful experiences are to give pleasure with art and to meet new people.
