Artist Statement

My work centers on material exploration through ceramics and mixed media. I am interested in how materials respond to manipulation, pressure, and time, and how those changes become embedded within the final object.

Clay is central to my practice because of its ability to record touch and transformation. Through firing, shaping, and altering surfaces, the material shifts from something soft and malleable into something permanent. I combine ceramic elements with other materials and processes to create layered works that emphasize texture, structure, and physical presence.

Much of my work investigates the balance between control and unpredictability in the studio. Cracks, distortions, and surface variations are not treated as flaws but as part of the material’s language. These moments reveal the history of the object and the conditions under which it was made.

By working across media, I aim to create pieces that move between sculpture and object, emphasizing process, material interaction, and the quiet tension between fragility and endurance.
