Shorna Abedin
Artist Statement
Shorna Abedin is a Bangladesh-based visual artist and filmmaker whose work explores spirituality, human emotion, motherhood, and metaphysical realities through painting and cinematic expression. Her artistic practice is rooted in conceptual storytelling, symbolic imagery, and deep psychological and spiritual reflection.
Through her paintings and films, she seeks to express the unseen dimensions of human existence—the soul, inner struggle, divine mercy, and emotional truth. Her work often focuses on themes such as spiritual consciousness, human suffering, inner transformation, and the quiet strength of motherhood, presenting art as a bridge between the visible world and the inner reality of the human soul.
Shorna Abedin’s creative process is deeply research-oriented, combining literature, cultural understanding, and spiritual philosophy to develop meaningful visual narratives. She believes that art and cinema are not only aesthetic expressions but also powerful tools for awareness, reflection, and human connection.
Her artistic vision aims to create emotionally resonant and spiritually reflective works that invite viewers to pause, think, and experience deeper layers of meaning. Through both visual art and filmmaking, she strives to present stories that speak to the universal human experience while maintaining a strong cultural and spiritual identity.
For Shorna Abedin, art is a journey of light, patience, and inner awakening—where each artwork and film becomes a silent dialogue between the soul of the creator and the heart of the viewer.
