Artist Statement

The world is a dark, dangerous, endless night. In these times, we have to choose to be the light.
Although I work with dark themes, I choose to use color to juxtapose the dreary grayness of the world.
I paint in the night, when the darkest thoughts manifest, when the scenes from the news screen scream violence and racism.
I use the brush as my weapon, to kill fascism.
I am influenced by Cubist painters such as George Braques and Pablo Picasso, artists who take the known world and rearrange it, defamiliarizing our eyes from sights we see in the sordid scene of reality, who project life for what it really means: just a mess of shapes and colors blended to cast a light on the darkest night.
