Artist Statement

I use natural, ancient dyes such as madder, walnut,, and indigo on wool, linen, and paper to create fiber and collage works. I create imagined landscapes by dipping fiber by hand in a vat of dye to show a range of color values. I am inspired by and share a love of color with the mid-century color field artists. The magical alchemy of using a color palette directly from nature is a feeling I hope to share in my work.
