Mediums: Water soluble oil, acrylic, collage
I am a Boston-born artist who was first introduced to drawing by my father. He filled hundreds of yellow lined legal pads with his work ideas and adorned them with amazing doodles of characters and buildings in the margins. I was fascinated by his drawings and spent a lot of time watching him sketch. This is likely what sparked my interest in Art.
As a student at Suffolk University, I was introduced to Oil Painting and Photography classes, where I was able to explore a different medium and learn about how to compose pictures and paintings. I also spent lots of time in the dark room developing my photographs. After college I wanted to pursue a creative career, so I decided to obtain my Design Certificate at New England School of Art & Design. From there I worked as a commercial interior designer for eighteen years.
I feel so fortunate to have found art at such a young age. At times, it has felt like the process of taking photographs and painting them was the only thing that calmed my over-active mind and brought me peace. Every day, everywhere I see things I want to paint. I am constantly looking at things and envisioning them as a painting. When I am painting, I am happy, so I try and paint as much as I can. I hope the person viewing my paintings will feel the peace and happiness I feel when I am painting them, if even for a few moments.
