Artist Statement

My name is Eric Trust. I am a digital and traditional abstract artist and a former teacher at an arts integrated elementary school in California. As a teacher, I was captivated by my students’ ability to create abstract art and the freedom they exhibited while creating. When I began teaching in the early 1990s, I used to say to my students “I am not an artist“, but over the years and through much individual growth, I began saying “we are all artists“. I began creating digital art almost 20 years ago. I moved to New Mexico four years ago and was inspired to begin painting. My imagery focuses on line, shape, color, depth, and mood coming together in unity and balance. My digital work includes manipulated photos, manipulated and merged photos, and digital painting. My traditional work includes paintings and mixed media creations. My goal is to create art that is intriguing to the eye and the mind, to promote thoughts, memories, questions, and critiques.
