Artist Statement

My work begins with the photograph — an object once held as proof, memory, and truth. A photograph captures only a fraction of a second, yet beyond its surface lingers an unseen history: the quiet weight of lives lived, moments passed, and stories suspended just outside the frame. Through collage and assemblage, I search for those hidden spaces where memory begins to blur with imagination.

I work with original and found photographs, weathered documents, discarded ephemera, personal mementos, sheets of glass, and distressed metal — fragments carrying the residue of touch, time, and loss. Images are cut apart, obscured, layered, and pieced back together again, allowing forgotten materials to speak in new and unexpected ways.

Each work is built slowly by hand as a one-of-a-kind three-dimensional construction. What first appears still or familiar gradually reveals shifting narratives beneath the surface: traces of longing, disappearance, tenderness, and remembrance. I am drawn to the fragile architecture of memory — how it fades, reshapes itself, and survives in fragments.

Much of my work grows from a desire to preserve what might otherwise vanish unnoticed. These assemblages become small acts of recovery — giving discarded images, overlooked histories, and fleeting human moments a second life, suspended somewhere between truth, memory, and dream.
