Katherine Yin
Artist Statement
My artistic practice explores intricate and emotional scenery, with delicate elements in between. I often focus on natural forms such as mountains, clouds, waves, cliffs, etc. Light becomes a central language in my pieces, whispering through the canvas and highlighting certain areas while allowing others to dissolve gently into shadow. I am drawn to subtle transitions, such as the meeting point between the sky and sea, the mist enveloping a cliff, flowers blooming into light, the gradient of clouds amidst the sky. I try my best to capture these moments and translate them into a painting I can look upon. Through my approaches, I hope to create an immersive, breathtaking environment that viewers will pause and forget they are on Earth, having their own emotional interpretations woven within as they gaze.
