Artist Statement

I create images of the landscapes and animals that inhabit my environment using drawing materials and paint, then apply layered lines across the surface.

The lines serve multiple purposes. The process itself is meditative; the space between each line becomes a pause, a quiet moment of reflection. As the lines accumulate, they create a rhythm that mirrors the experience of observing the natural world.

I am particularly interested in transitional atmospheric moments—such as the shift from day to night. Within each row, color gradually changes in response to these transitions. The progression is both intentional and intuitive, with each row relating to the one before and after it.

The lines may be interpreted in many ways: as protection, as references to the built environment, or as evidence of human presence and imperfection layered over the natural world.
