Artist Statement

I was trained as an optical physicist. The Air Force brought me to New Mexico in 1995. I worked with telescopes and adaptive optics at Starfire Optical Range. After retiring from the Air Force in 2000, I took up astrophotography. New Mexico offers many places with pristine skies. I retired again last year. I plan to spend more time traveling to dark places in New Mexico for night sky photography. The skies in New Mexico, together with the stark landscapes, are beautiful in a way that is different from anywhere else I have ever been.
