Artist Statement

A native of the Pacific Northwest, I have always been enchanted by the changing light and beauty of our region: sometimes subtle, often magnificent. After years as a designer and whimsical character illustrator, I have recently turned my attentions to plein air painting. The challenge of quickly capturing the changing light of a landscape is invigorating, continually informing and elevating my studio work. With a deep curiosity about color relationships, composition, and the rhythm of natural elements, I seek to capture the vitality of a specific moment in time. I welcome the viewer to journey with me, and revel in the joy and wonder of our natural world.
