Artist Statement

Painting for me is exploring and explaining space created with form and color relationships, abstracted from perception, with an eye on the history of painting. It can be emotional, figurative from memory, but always from looking.
One of the goals is trying to create 3 dimensional space in 2 dimensions with an image that pulls the viewer in and supportive elements that put them on a visual adventure (when it works) within the rectangle, then lets them go out.
