Mariah Ordonez

Artist Statement

Mariah Ordonez is an artist and arts educator who creates scenes from life lived in the Pacific Northwest. Her process centers on daily meditations, often spent outdoors. When she identifies inspirations, she photographs them from multiple angles. The photographs are then brought back to her studio where she sketches them onto cotton paper using pencils. Next, she layers delicate watercolor washes and completes details in ink and oil pastel. The overarching message of her work is a celebration of the natural beauty and hope found in the quiet moments that are often overlooked.
