Artist Statement
I create custom, household items using both machine and hand tools. One goal is to offer items that enhance, beautify, and help organize a house. My works feature geometric designs and 3D illusions. I create contrast between hard lines / angles and the natural flow of wood grain. Most items use local hardwoods such as maple, cherry, and walnut. The vast majority of the pieces employ traditional joinery techniques such as dovetails and finger joints. Rarely (if ever) do I use nails or screws. Pieces can be custom ordered and sized to fit specific spaces in a person’s home. A second goal is to help people transition away from plastic and mass-produced items in favor artistic household items. Finally, I create custom frames for artworks (various mediums). Included are three photos showing a series ceramic masks mounted in frames that I have made.
